Alicia Velez
Founder, President & CEO
Ms. Velez began her career in New York City with Banker’s Trust. After six years with Banker’s, she acquired a position on Wall Street with Hartford Trust and climbed the corporate ladder handling stocks, bonds and other securities. Her experiences on Wall Street include positions with State Street Securities and Bradford Trust Securities. After several years, her thirst for helping the underprivileged became apparent and she joined the New York City Department of Social Services Human Resource Administration Division. For the next 25 years she dedicated her efforts to helping those in need and rose to the ranks of Assistant to the Director. During her spare time she devoted much of her work towards promoting and direct involvement with musical events. Her passion for music coupled with her desire to see our younger generation realize their dreams, provided her with the vision to create The Alivel Foundation Inc. Ms. Velez has successfully managed a number of small businesses and now dedicates her efforts towards enriching the musical talents of our younger generation.
Mary Ann Rivera
Co-Founder & Corporate Secretary
Ms. Rivera is a dynamic bi-lingual career professional, who comes to the Foundation with over 20 years of administrative expertise in corporate organization, office management and client relations. Ms. Rivera has provided administrative know-how in a variety of industries including transportation, construction, education and medical for such notable companies as AIG, AIA, Turner Construction Co., and Montefiore Medical Center. Ms. Rivera attended La Guardia College in New York. A gifted fund raiser, Ms. Rivera has worked tirelessly to help research efforts in the fight against breast cancer.
Angel Torres
Member, Board of Directors
Mr. Torres brings to the Foundation over two decades of Military experience, along with mid-level management expertise with some of Fortune 500’s most distinguished corporations. His work as a Communications Supervisor with the likes of Boeing, Rockwell International, PAR Technology, DYNA Corp. has been instrumental.
His diverse background, along with personnel evaluation insight is critical in creating and managing the Foundation’s volunteer division.
Gladys B. Luciano
Member, Board of Directors
Ms. Luciano brings to the Board of Directors incredible insight into entrepreneurship. A business owner with national influence, she has managed this thriving enterprise creating a line of fine organic beauty products. Ms. Luciano is a Certified National Educator and a member of the Board of Directors for The New York Hair & Beauty Association. She is also a member of the National Association of Professional Women. Ms. Luciano’s expertise in non-profit management, along with her insight into the Latin music community is an added plus for the Foundation.
